Natural Edge Bowl Production time…

So on Wednesday I decided to get some natural edge bowls in the works…So here is the journey throughout the day. I picked one bowl to get a little bit more indepth on.  If anyone has any questions or suggestions please do not hesitate to ask…Thanks

I chose this log for the natural edge bowls because I enjoy the look of having a flatter rim on the bowls instead of the more rounded flowing rims.

After all the cutting was done, I ended up with 13 blanks to work with...different sizes and shapes.

This is the blank that I picked to follow through the process...

same blank, different view...better lighting

Here is the same blank all turned to rough shape with spigot on the bottom.

pic of all the blanks rough turned and a wonderful pile of shavings...

roughed out blank ready to have the outside turned down to finish shape...sharp tools are key at this point...

Finished with the outside final shape...for now.

Next step in the process is to use the core saver and save some wood and create more bowls...

core ready to be removed...just a light tap with the mallet and she'll pop right out.

core with mother bowl...

bowl finished turned to final thickness...

All the cores and mother bowls...26 total....I think....maybe

back to the featured bowl...its flipped and jammed up....ready to turn the bottom down as well...

turned down to final thickness...left small nub on bottom for rechucking.....

All the bowls from the log...all finished turned to thickness and drying...I think I lost two bowls in the whole process...

and of course this is what we are really talking about....look at the beauty of it all...
