Extreme Makeover: Shop Edition

So a few weeks ago it was decidedly time to clean the shop… I was at the point where I simply could not (and would not) work anymore in that mess of a shop! The words of my lovely mother (in her lovely voice) kept playing over and over in my head, “Gregory James, clean up this pigsty!”… or maybe I had watched too many episodes of ¬†Hoarders.

Anyway, it took a little over a week to go through all of the accumulated stuff and devise a plan that includes super shelves and super containers. The end result is nothing short of wonderful. I now have a new workshop to inspire me and reignite my creativity and I’m ready to get back at it full force. New and exciting things are coming to NSS and I can’t wait!

Here are some before pictures. Wood everywhere on the ground. Nowhere to put anything else.

You’re getting an idea of the very limited work space I squeezed myself into.

This WAS my idea of storage.

and this…

Oh, and this too…

BAM!!! Just like that. The shop is transformed.

Now there’s enough room on the shelves for everything to have its own special spot. Oh why did I wait so long to do this?!

Here I have pieces waiting to be finished and shelves full of all kinds of wonder.

On the right – all of the ancillary things required to get the job done right. Sand paper, chucks…
